- describe the artifact and its alignment to the CCTS.
- Paragraph 2: summarize your reflection upon how this assignment expands your pedagogical knowledge and improves your future practice as an effective educator.
This artifact is a table of different types of assessments I have seen in the classroom. It includes interim, summative, formative, screener, and diagnostic assessments. For the 2nd part of the assignment I actually gave my own formative assessment to students. The assignment aligns with the standard because it shows I have learned and understood all different types of assessment as well as the ability to monitor learning progress.
This assignment expanded my pedagogical knowledge by helping me better understand the different types of classroom assessments, including interim, summative, formative, screener, and diagnostic. Creating a table with real examples I observed helped me see how each assessment serves a different purpose and how they all work together to support student learning. It also showed me that assessment is not just about grading, but about gathering information to guide instruction. The second part of the assignment, where I designed and gave my own formative assessment, was especially valuable. It allowed me to practice monitoring student progress in real time and use the results to see what students understood and where they needed more support. This experience will impact my future teaching because it reinforced the importance of using formative assessments regularly to adjust instruction, provide targeted support, and ensure students are meeting learning goals. Overall, this assignment helped me become more intentional and effective in how I use assessment to support student learning.
